SMS Text Messaging Terms and Conditions

Ocean State Ranked Choice Voting | Effective Date: June 2, 2026

1. Program Description

Ocean State Ranked Choice Voting ("Ocean State RCV") operates an SMS text messaging program to communicate with supporters who have voluntarily opted in. Messages may include reminders about community events (such as supporter coffees, public hearings, and legislative rallies), volunteer coordination requests, and time-sensitive legislative alerts related to ranked choice voting legislation in Rhode Island.

2. How to Opt In

You may opt in to receive text messages from Ocean State RCV by completing the contact form on our website at oceanstatercv.org and checking the box indicating your consent to receive SMS messages. Consent to receive text messages is not required as a condition of participation in any program, event, or activity offered by Ocean State RCV.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies. We send texts only when there is a relevant event, volunteer need, or legislative development. You may receive up to a few messages per month, and there may be periods with no messages at all.

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. These charges are billed by your mobile carrier and are not controlled by Ocean State RCV. Please contact your mobile carrier if you have questions about your messaging plan.

5. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of receiving text messages from Ocean State RCV at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further texts. You may re-subscribe at any time by replying START.

7. Supported Carriers

Ocean State RCV's SMS program is supported by most major US wireless carriers. Carrier support is not guaranteed for all carriers or devices.

8. Privacy

Your mobile number and messaging data are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at oceanstatercv.org/privacy. We do not sell or share your mobile number with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

9. Changes to These Terms

Ocean State RCV reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued participation in the SMS program following notice of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
